Brinn Annalise

This was my first home birth. It went very well. I woke up at 1:05 am with contractions. I thought at first maybe they were just the false ones, but they were consistent and only 2 - 3 min. apart and getting stronger. So I woke up my husband at around 2:45 and had him check my cervix just to see what was going on , so I wouldn't call the midwife for no reason at that time in the morning. He checked and I was 3 cm. I know not a lot , but I was at a 1 cm and not effaced at all for the last 2 weeks and at my last appointment, which was last friday. Well, I decided this was the real thing cause no matter what I done they never went away. So I called the midwife at around 3:30 am. She said she would be over after she got ready. I started to have my bloody show by the time I called too.  Well, she arrived and checked me to see how things were going and I was 6 cm in just the short time it took her to get ready and come over. I was able to handle everything really well still at this point and I called my pastor and her daughter to let them know I was in labor and for them to come over.  They arrived and we prayed, ( I had been praying for a pain free labor or a mild painful labor which ever the Lord's will was) . I was checked again a few hours later , I was 8 cm and the midwifes said that I was doing really good , because I was still smiling and talking through all the contractions and that some people would not believe I was at 8 cm and doing that well with the pain.  Well the pain wasn't that bad it was mild. Then came the fun part. It started to get more painful after the water broke and I was 9 cm. I was not progressing very well cause there was a frontal lip of the cervix that did not want to move. So the midwife had me try leaning on my knees over the couch for a few contractions. I was doing ok still with the pain , but it started to hurt quite a bit, so she tried to help by pushing up the lip of the cervix during a contraction. YOWWIE!!! I thought I could go insane a couple of times during that, but I made it through. The baby's heartbeat started to drop a few times when she listen and so she had me change positions and it came back up. It was time to push and I pushed with all my might cause by this time it was really feeling intense and I only pushed for about 15 min. and she was born.  She was quite blue at first and we rubbed her quite a bit to get her color up and her lungs working good. She had the cord around her neck and leg when she was born.  She is doing really well and has a lot of black hair. She weighed 7 lbs 6 oz. and is 19 inches long. Beautiful.

She was a bit smaller than what the midwife thought when she was in the womb. Her placenta was really small and was calcified and weird shaped on the mothers side.  Both my midwives thought it was a bit odd . I am just thankful she did so well during the whole pregnancy and labor and birth. This was a wonderful experience for me too. Way better than any hospital birth I've had.

Sorry I made this so long , but I wanted to share it with you all.
Take care
